About Welcome Busan

Welcome Busan is an independent travel guide built for first-time foreign visitors to Busan, South Korea. It exists to answer the practical questions that come up before and during a trip — how to get from the airport, where to stay, what a specific market or attraction is actually like to visit — in plain, checked-through detail rather than as a marketing pitch. It's run by HHS, who was born in Busan and has lived here for more than 30 years.

This site is not affiliated with the City of Busan, the Korea Tourism Organization, or any hotel, tour operator or transport company mentioned in its guides. We don't accept payment for placement or positive coverage.

How a guide is made

Every guide starts from a specific, real question a visitor would have. HHS chooses the topics and brings what a lifetime in the city teaches: which neighborhoods are worth the trip, how people actually get around, and which places are worth recommending at all.

The research, writing and translation are done with AI tools — currently Anthropic's Claude. Facts a visitor will rely on, such as fares, opening hours, bus numbers and subway exits, are checked against official sources: the city and district offices, transit operators, the venues themselves and Visit Busan. Those sources are listed at the end of every guide so you can check them yourself. HHS reviews each guide before it goes up and whenever it is updated.

We don't publish invented personal experiences, fabricated reviews, or 'best of' rankings without a clear basis. Where a detail can change — an opening time, a fare, a festival date — the guide says so and points to the official source rather than presenting it as permanently fixed. Every guide shows the date it was last updated.

Languages

Guides are written in English and translated into Korean, Japanese and Simplified Chinese with the same tools; the Traditional Chinese pages are converted automatically from the Simplified Chinese text. If a translation reads unnaturally or gets something wrong, please tell us.
